Our people
We have an enthusiastic group of 100 plus volunteers who contribute many committed hours of help, support and energy. Our volunteers help to run the centre on a day-to-day basis and we are always seeking new volunteers for general as well as specific responsibilities.
We have 40 staff who speak 23 different mother-tongue languages to serve clients from the many different countries across the world. We can also cater for other languages via external interpreters.

Bhopinder Basi - Chief Executive
Born in Smethwick and a graduate of Simon Fraser University BC, Canada and the Open University, Bhopinder has a life-long commitment to human rights. His career developed in the voluntary sector working for law centres, advice agencies and charities serving minority groups, the disabled and the homeless. He has served as a member of trades union bodies and promoted issues of human rights. Previously he was CEO of Birmingham Law Centre.
